Welcome to Ty’s 45s!
Where Music is the thing….
Where Music is the thing….
As with many good things in life, Ty’s 45s started with unexpected events.
The first was in Times Square in NYC, while walking past the Infamous Colony Records, Colony had decided to close the shop after 64 years and to put thousands of vinyl records out on the sidewalk, free to the public.
5 boxes of 45s or so later, Ty was headed home with a walk through music history.
Then, a few years later after relocating to Los Angeles, Ty bought a collection of records advertised on Craigslist, assembled from old radio station DJ demos and 45s.
More purchases followed, always from original owners, never from stores.
With a catalog of music featuring the obscure, the rare, songs known to just audiophiles, as well as songs known to everyone, Ty’s 45s was born.
One thing most people agree on and bond over is a shared love of music.
Despite different tastes and preferences, music brings people together and is a positive force in our lives on a primal level. The exploration of music assists with memory, math, education, and general well being.
It’s our goal to share the music on the shelves of Ty’s 45s. Explore the stories on how the music was made, who made the music, and when.
Sharing 45s with artist and label research, pictures of records, labels, and sleeves, along with the actual, in hand, 45s being played.
45s listening sessions on social media and at live events.
45s offered for sale to music enthusiasts.
